St. Anthony Hospital is pleased to present the 2022 Eastern Oregon Regional Child Passenger Safety Summit.  This training is geared toward Child Passenger Safety Technicians and Instructors in Oregon and beyond.  Up to 6 CEUs will be offered, as well as seat signoffs for those attending the summit in person.  Due to the generous support of St. Anthony Hospital, registration is now FREE and includes lunch.

Summit will be held at the Pendleton Convention Center, 1601 Westgate - Pendleton, Oregon

Eastern Oregon Child Passenger Safety Summit Tentative Presentations Sponsored by St. Anthony Hospital, Pendleton What’s New in CChIPS Research—Schuyler St. Lawrence, Toyota Motor North America: 1 CEU Schuyler will present the Center for Child Injury Prevention Studies (CChIPS) and the research they perform. He’ll discuss what CChIPS is, who’s a part of it and how it all works, and Important findings from some of the latest research, with a particular focus on CRS use and misuse in far-side crashes, LATCH vs. non-LATCH Installations for Boosters in Frontal Impacts, how adjacent seat positions can influence CRS Performance in side impacts and a few others! Consumer Reports’ Child Passenger Safety Programs—Emily Thomas, Consumer Reports: 1 CEU Emily will discuss the various child passenger safety programs at Consumer Reports, such as its child seat evaluation and rear-seat safety features. She will explain the rationale behind both programs and what CR evaluates. Emily will also share testing highlights that will empower CPSTs as they educate families in the field, not only for their kids in car seats but even their older children that rely on the vehicle safety systems. Tethers in Pickup Trucks—Emily Smith, St. Anthony Hospital: 1 CEU Pickup trucks and tethers continue to be an area of incredible high misuse. Due to limited cab space, vehicle manufacturers have had to get creative on how to route tethers to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Emily will discuss indirect and direct routing systems in a variety of pickup trucks and demonstrate real-world examples to help techs be better prepared to educate families with pickup trucks and children. Car Seat Manufacturer Update—Michelle Nichols, OHSU Doernbecher Childrens Hospital: 2 CEU Car seat manufacturers are always innovating and bringing new products to the market. Join Michelle in reviewing new products and features in this technical update. Numerous brands will be showcased such as Britax, Evenflo, Graco, Nuna, and so many more! Learn how car seat features such as Anti-Rebound Bars, Load Legs and side impact devices manage energy to help keep kids safe. Unique Routing Systems—Kyndra Lathim, OHSU Doernbecher Childrens Hospital: 1 CEU Just as all children grow differently and come in lots of shapes and sizes, car seat manufacturers have developed a variety of methods to adapt their seats to the growing bodies of children. Kyndra will provide an in-depth look at many of the more popular car seat harness routing systems and demonstrate how to adapt and adjust to fit children in the field.
