St. Anthony Hospital continues to remain in the forefront of technology with the addition of PET/CT scanning to our imaging department. PET (positron emission tomography) and CT (computed tomography) has revolutionized the detection of cancer, cancer recurrence, and metastatic disease and also helps distinguish inflammatory or infectious (benign) processes from cancer. Cancer as small as 7 mm can be visualized. By combining the anatomical data of CT with the PET's functional data, precise localization of disease can be achieved, even before clear anatomical changers occur. Therefore we can diagnose disease earlier. Scannings are scheduled for every Saturday. Learn more about PET/CT scans.
