How can a bunch of trees and Christmas spirit save your life?
Slip on your dancing shoes for a good cause! This year, our annual Festival of Trees fundraiser promises even more holiday excitement with the addition of live dance music from the Little McKay Creek band! Get in the Christmas spirit as bidders compete for that specially decorated tree. Dec. 6 at the Pendleton Convention Center sip champagne and dine on gourmet delights while shopping for unique items in the Holiday Gift Shoppe. Mix and mingle with friends and neighbors. Say "Hello" to Santa Claus, who knows if you've been good this year, so attend for goodness sake!
This year, Festival of Trees proceeds will buy heart-starting Automatic Emergency Defibrillators for placement in busy public community locations. Through an initial grant, St. Anthony Hospital has already placed two AEDs in Pendleton: One at the Umatilla County Courthouse and one at the Pendleton Convention Center. The hospital also provides training for staff that may be called on to use the equipment if an emergency arises.
"We hope to raise enough money to purchase as many AEDs as possible," said June Mohrland, St. Anthony director of support services and the annual festival. She and her many hardworking volunteers are excited about the great changes set for this year's festival.
While sure to be enjoyable, this long-time annual event allows St. Anthony to fulfill its mission to strengthen the communities it serves. And who knows…the life that you help save may be your own! Mark your calendar for the Tree Auction and Gala Dance Saturday, Dec. 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and Family Day on Sunday, Dec. 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
